Emotional intelligence is key to all problems - Humanity story

I was born in Gambia, Africa but lived pretty much all over the world because as career diplomats, my parents were constantly on the move. Having lived in so many different places, I realised that human behaviour is the same all over the world no matter which country, religion or race.
It all originates from what we as children grow up believing or accepting as the truth. If as a child you talk back, throw tantrums or are withdrawn…there are reasons for all those things, but we just don't understand them.
While most schools focus on the Intelligence Quotient of young adults, very few focus on the Emotional Intelligence…something that helps children reflect, understand and correct their actions. I founded ‘Global Village Children’ to help schools include Emotional Development into the curriculum of children.
What we want the world to understand is that, disgruntled children go on to become disgruntled adults. If we teach children that we can’t control the actions of others and that we’re responsible for the actions of only one ‘being’ in the entire world - ourselves…we will empower an entire generation.
The only way to World Peace is to raise a generation thats at peace with themselves, and the road to that is to place as much importance on our emotional understanding as we do on Math, History or Physics. The grades will come and go, but understanding what it takes to be a good human being is a lifelong skill…something that can’t be replaced.”
